Castle Keep

I am dreaming, dreams of a fallen, sunken castle keep for the past few weeks.
Cliffs, skies, water and a castle keep that fallen to the ground. A hidden one, that cannot be seen from above near the cliffs edge, of a past living castle keep and it is lost to the hidden areas of a cliff.
It originally built near the edge of cliff where the castle lords would watch for incoming threats and residents paying rents for generations from the sky land and seas. Once it was prosperous and now lost to the memory of the land sky and sea.
Something happened to it many generations ago. The castle, in somewhat one piece, fell down to the shores of the sea, cliffs of which it once stood broken away, leaving the castle still whole to a point that you can see that it looked once it had. Sliced away from the main cliff it stands tall.
I am rooting for a spell that went wrong, the memory of the castle that once stood near the cliffs, bringing wealth and protection to its people is now lost.
I can see the castle sheltered in the cliff’s edge, shadowed by both cliff and sea. No trails leading from the edge of the cliff to the castle. Dangerous place to be by the looks of it, it appears that the castle stood on the cliff one day and the next day, disappeared or fallen to the bottom of the cliff. And the people that lived nearby at one time had erased their memory about it, leaving it to the legends and myths including the land sea and skies.
It bugged me so much that I had no choice to draw what I have seen in my dreams. I used Conte for the most part, just to get the shape of castle keep, charcoal to deepen the shadows, white Conte for highlights and other colour conte to work it out.

Its not really a great drawing but eventually I do hope to do the dream Castle Keep justice by redoing it completely.  I still dream about it.

  1. I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today,
yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me.
In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web
will be much more useful than ever before.

    1. Thank you for this comment. It is really the first one I had so far. Hope you will continue to check back soo.
This is really an ongoing experiment on my part and so far, it’s really off the wall in areas so I am still trying to find my ‘voice’.
